A 17-year-old is facing charges of first-degree murder and assaulting a police officer following the deaths of three people inside a home.<\/p>\n

The Brockville Police Service<\/a> said it responded to a 911 call reporting three people dead at a residence on Cartier Court around 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Officers confirmed that all three people were deceased and deemed the deaths suspicious in nature, according to a statement on the Brockville, Ont., police Facebook page.<\/p>\n

Police said they received \u201cadditional information\u201d that led them to an address on the outskirts of Brockville. At this location, police took a 17-year-old into custody, charging him with three counts of first-degree murder and assault of a police officer.<\/p>\n

Officers confirmed the incident was not random. They said the accused and the victims knew each other.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis investigation is sensitive and complex,\u201d police said in the statement. \u201cWe recognize the profound impact this incident has on the families, loved ones, and the community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police are scheduled to provide an update Friday at 2 p.m.<\/p>\n

The accused is also scheduled to appear for a bail hearing Friday.<\/p>\n

The community is grieving, Michael Barrett, MP for the area said in a statement on social media, adding his thanks to the first responder who attended the scene under \u201cdifficult circumstances\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m praying for the families, friends, and all those affected by this heartbreaking event,\u201d said the representative for Leeds\u2013Grenville\u2013Thousand Islands\u2013Rideau Lakes.<\/p>\n

MPP Steve Clark, who represents the area provincially, asked for members of the community to continue to support one another as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n
