In June of 2025, Google surprisingly released<\/a> a major update for Snapseed after a long dormancy. After confirming at the start of this year<\/a> that iOS exclusivity was set to end, Snapseed 4.0 is now rolling out to Android.<\/p>\n As of today, the Play Store listing<\/a> has been updated for the new app, which is version 4.0. Since last year, iOS has been on version 3.0, so both platforms are getting an updated interface with this release. Updated assets from Google Play provide a glimpse of the interface. <\/p>\n This includes how Google has brought over the Snapseed Camera to \u201ccapture using custom styles or film looks.\u201d This includes \u201creal-time effects that can be edited or reset later.\u201d<\/p>\n The Android redesign starts with a new homepage grid that shows photos you\u2019ve edited using Snapseed. To start editing, tap \u201cAdd Photo\u201d at the bottom to open the system file picker.<\/p>\n \tAdvertisement – scroll for more content<\/p>\n The editor is organized into three bottom tabs: Looks, Tools, and Export. That middle tab is further grouped by Refine, Fix, Style, and All.<\/p>\n Like before, you drag left\/right to make value adjustments. Depending on the tool, you can still swipe up\/down to access different options. In the top-right corner, you can quickly change between dark\/light themes and enable the histogram.<\/p>\n \t\t Meanwhile, the Snapseed Camera is accessed from a FAB (floating action button) on the homepage. This viewfinder is quite skeuomorphic with a \u201cPro\u201d mode that lets you control ISO, Shutter Speed, and Focus.<\/p>\n Besides using your custom saved looks, Snapseed Camera offers real-time \u201cfilm emulation\u201d in the following styles:<\/p>\n KP1: Inspired by Kodak Portra 400<\/p>\n KP2: Inspired by Kodak Portra 160<\/p>\n KG1: Inspired by Kodak Gold 200<\/p>\n KE1: Inspired by Kodak E200<\/p>\n FS1: Inspired by Fuji Superia 200<\/p>\n FS2: Inspired by Fuji Superia 800<\/p>\n FP1: Inspired by Fuji Pro 400h<\/p>\n AG1: Inspired by Agfa Optima 200<\/p>\n AS1: Inspired by Agfa Scala 200<\/p>\n PD1: Inspired by Polaroid 600<\/p>\n TC1: Inspired by Technicolor<\/p>\n Other settings let you set a different Color Theme for the viewfinder: Editor, Dusk, Negative, Steel, Haze, and Depth.<\/p>\n As of Friday afternoon, this Android update is now widely available.<\/p>\n Snapseed 4.0 on iOS is fully available<\/a>, with Google explaining that the \u201cediting process [is now] smoother and more intuitive.\u201d Specifically:<\/p>\n Refreshed Interface and Expanded Favorites: We\u2019ve updated the look and feel of the app for a smoother, more intuitive workflow.
