Canelo Alvarez<\/a> is looking to re-establish himself as the man to beat at super-middleweight by reclaiming a world title, but there is one man who Devin Haney<\/a> would prefer to see him fight next.<\/p>\n

Alvarez became a two-time undisputed super-middleweight world champion when he outpointed William Scull last year, but he lost all four of his titles when he came up short in a mammoth fight against Terence Crawford back in September.<\/p>\n

Following that defeat, Canelo underwent elbow surgery and is subsequently sidelined until September, when he is set to return in an immediate shot at world honours against newly crowned WBC titleholder Christian Mbilli.<\/a><\/p>\n

Ahead of that fight, fans have been discussing whether Canelo\u2019s powers have now faded in the 168lb scene or if Alvarez simply came out second best against a generational talent in Crawford.<\/p>\n

Should the latter be true, normal service could resume, and the 35-year-old may continue to dominate as he had done for years prior. However, the division has become more stacked in recent times, with a host of new title hopefuls seeking to become the next super-middleweight poster boy.<\/p>\n

Whilst Canelo may be preparing for Mbilli, reigning WBO welterweight titleholder Devin Haney told Inside The Ring<\/a> that he would prefer to see the veteran take on Hamzah Sheeraz when building his \u2018dream\u2019 fight card.<\/p>\n

Sheeraz is scheduled to challenge for the vacant WBO super-middleweight throne in two weeks, taking on Germany\u2019s Alem Begic in the co-main event of the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Rico Verhoeven card on Saturday, May 23.<\/a><\/p>\n
