The couple, who previously posted about their engagement, ran the YouTube channel<\/a> \u201cToyota World Runners,\u201d which has more than 200,000 subscribers.<\/p>\n The featured video, \u201cThe Greatest Road Trip On Earth | The Pan American Movie,\u201d has been viewed more than one million times within about seven months.<\/p>\n Read more below<\/p>\n With 345 videos uploaded, the channel description says the pair had \u201cset off on their journey to drive the Pan American and beyond.\u201d Viewers tuned in for \u201ctheir story about the adventure, the personal growth and choosing to live life and create a legacy community of people who are seekers of the unknown.\u201d<\/p>\n The influencers \u201cbuilt the world\u2019s first Land Cruiser Chinook in 100 days,\u201d reads the channel, which launched in early 2020. They were also popular on Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n Speaking with CHEK News Tuesday, Mark Jennings-Bates, a manager at Kaslo SAR<\/a>, says people \u201caround the world knew this couple very well, it seems.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n The SAR team was called out to a remote service road east of Trout Lake in the interior around 7:30 p.m. Aug. 7, following a report of a rollover motor vehicle incident.<\/p>\n \u201cWe got a very accurate map location, which is always helpful, and some details on the severity of the incident,\u201d Jennings-Bates said over the phone.<\/p>\n He says two people were involved, a man and a woman.<\/p>\n \u201cWe knew that one person had been ejected from the vehicle, and another person, on the initial part of the call, we were told was trapped inside the vehicle,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u2018Outcome was a tragedy\u2019<\/p>\n According to Jennings-Bates, witnesses to the incident were able to provide some aid and call emergency services for help.<\/p>\n The SAR manager says the incident happened high up in the alpine, so the team \u201cfigured there would be ropes needed.\u201d In addition to a ropes team, ground crews with a quad responded, and a helicopter was also called in.<\/p>\n \u201cWe were getting short on pilots \u2026 and helicopters that were available, but we were very fortunate to find one that met our team en route, picked up three of our members and flew there. We were on scene relatively quickly, although this outcome was a tragedy.\u201d<\/p>\n The woman \u201chad actually self-extricated from the vehicle\u201d and was subsequently taken to hospital \u201cquite quickly,\u201d Jennings-Bates said in an interview.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cShe had a lot of severe injuries, but we were able to package her.\u201d<\/p>\n He says she later passed away in hospital.\u00a0<\/p>\n The man, meanwhile, had \u201cno vital signs\u201d when the SAR team arrived on scene. \u201cIt would appear he passed away. The coroner has to make the decision, or a doctor.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Jennings-Bates says SAR worked alongside the RCMP and the BC Coroners Service.<\/p>\n These types of calls are \u201cheartbreaking,\u201d Jennings-Bates said.<\/p>\n He told the CBC that the vehicle had fallen approximately 200 metres down a rockfield and would have rolled \u201cmany, many times.\u201d He also said he wasn\u2019t sure what caused the crash, but suspected loss of control on rough terrain.<\/p>\n He says SAR teams look to help people when they are in a difficult situation, \u201cand it\u2019s usually just wrong place, wrong time. They have everything prepared, they have everything organized, but something surprises them,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cIn this instance, the trauma was just a little too severe.\u201d<\/p>\n Before venturing outdoors, Jennings-Bates is encouraging people to download the \u201cfantastic app\u201d BC AdventureSmart, which is \u201calways good, no matter what activity you\u2019re doing.
