Interestingly enough, all four of those mocks had Ivar Stenberg still available to the Canucks. In each instance, the mocks had Vancouver passing on Stenberg for Malhotra.<\/p>\n
Whether that transpires or not, Malhotra is a viable option for the Canucks at No. 3 overall. And, the club has clearly shown interest<\/a> in the talented young centre.<\/p>\n So, what does Malhotra think about potentially getting drafted by the Canucks?<\/p>\n \u201cYeah, obviously I\u2019ve thought about it,\u201d Malhotra said when speaking to TSN\u2019s Mark Masters<\/a>. \u201cIt would be really cool. Growing up in Vancouver, going back home would be really cool.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s the team I\u2019ve cheered for most of my life,\u201d he said. \u201cObviously, my dad being currently a part of that organization, it would be interesting\u2026it\u2019s a weird feeling, it\u2019s pretty cool though.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBut I mean, there\u2019s a long ways to go, so we\u2019ll see what happens on draft night.\u201d<\/p>\n Of course, there\u2019s a twist with Malhotra potentially joining the Canucks, considering his dad is head coach of Vancouver\u2019s AHL affiliate in Abbotsford.<\/p>\n Not only that, but Manny would be a prime candidate<\/a> to take over Adam Foote as head coach of the Canucks, if Vancouver\u2019s new GM decides to make a change.<\/p>\n Could the two co-exist<\/a>, with Caleb being a vital building block for a Canucks rebuild, while his dad is the head coach?<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know, to be honest with you,\u201d Caleb said. \u201cI haven\u2019t had him coach me since I was 12 years old.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cTaking orders from your dad as a coach is different from taking orders from a coach. Obviously, it\u2019d be fine, I\u2019d be able to adjust, but it would be different.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know if it\u2019s really happened before where a son is getting coached by their father.
