Before Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc even stepped on the race track at the Miami Grand Prix, he hosted a dinner to launch a 16-year-aged Chivas Regal whiskey that he created in collaboration with the brand. It’s fitting for Formula 1<\/a>, where drivers are just as much a part of the luxury experience as the racing itself.<\/p>\n

“We organized a trip to Scotland with all of my childhood best friends,” he said of creating the drink, which is a blend of 16 whiskies, a nod to his race number. “It was a very, very, fun weekend.”<\/p>\n

That’s sort of how I felt leaving Miami after my first-ever Formula 1 race at Hard Rock Stadium<\/a>. Seriously, where have I been?<\/p>\n

The loud hum of the cars driving around the 3.7-mile race track, the unmistakable signs of luxury from spectators, and a lot of mansplaining \u2014 which I didn’t mind this time \u2014 it was one of the best weekends I’ve had in a while.<\/p>\n

For a first timer, the most memorable moments to me extended far beyond the track.<\/p>\n

Initially, I had sticker shock when I walked into the merch tent. Jackets, sweaters, and other items cost upward of $200. Still, I was relieved to find stylish offerings for around $50, including T-shirts and hats that anyone back home would love.<\/p>\n

And the heat. I mean, it is Miami, but \u2014 the heat. Unless you paid thousands of dollars for access to The Paddock Club or similarly shaded areas, you were left battling the relentless sunrays.
