{"id":659799,"date":"2026-05-10T07:59:18","date_gmt":"2026-05-10T07:59:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/659799\/"},"modified":"2026-05-10T07:59:18","modified_gmt":"2026-05-10T07:59:18","slug":"inappropriate-comments-to-female-reporter-lands-vancouver-giants-fine-from-the-league-daily-hive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/659799\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Inappropriate\u2019 comments to female reporter lands Vancouver Giants fine from the league | Daily Hive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Vancouver Giants scout went viral earlier this week for all the wrong reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Terry Bonner, the 85-year-old head scout for the Giants, made the rounds earlier this week when speaking with WHL reporter Cami Kepke following the 2026 WHL Draft.<\/p>\n<p>Kepke asked about what made third overall pick, Eli Vickers, the right choice for Vancouver following the draft.<\/p>\n<p>Bonner\u2019s initial response was \u201cWell, thank you very much for the question, you good-looking girl.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">85-year-old WHL scout just can\u2019t help himself on air \ud83d\ude02 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8tcdpZlE7b\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/8tcdpZlE7b<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 World Hockey Report (@worldhockeyrpt) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/worldhockeyrpt\/status\/2052218609989046306?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">May 7, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A clip of the exchange made the rounds online, with one repost by World Hockey Report now nearing 2.5 million views on X.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, the CHL stepped in, <a href=\"https:\/\/chl.ca\/whl\/article\/western-hockey-league-announces-fine-for-vancouver-giants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">fining the Giants<\/a> $5,000 for \u201cconduct detrimental to the league.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccountability is a cornerstone value of our League,\u201d WHL Commissioner Dan Near said via a press release. \u201cThat includes both players and staff.\u00a0 In this instance, regardless of intent, the remarks are not reflective of the organization\u2019s standards of respect and inclusion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bonner has been with the Giants organization since their inception in 2001.
