Police are investigating after a victim was found with traumatic injuries outside a coffee shop in Oshawa before dying. <\/p>\n
Durham regional police are seeking the public\u2019s help after a 23-year-old man was found dead with \u201ctraumatic injuries\u201d following an altercation outside a Tim Hortons in Oshawa. <\/p>\n
Officials say the incident happened on Saturday shortly after 8 p.m. in the area of Simcoe Street North and Winchester Road East following reports of an \u201carmed person.\u201d <\/p>\n
When officers arrived, they say they found the victim suffering from traumatic injuries where he was later pronounced deceased at the scene. <\/p>\n
\u201cTwo groups of males engaged in a physical altercation outside of the Tim Horton\u2019s,\u201d police said in a news release. \u201cDuring that altercation, the victim suffered fatal injuries.\u201d<\/p>\n
Police say the suspect and \u201cseveral other males\u201d then fled on foot south and east of the plaza before officers arrived.<\/p>\n
After an extensive search involving helicopter and a K9 Unit, police say they were unable make an arrest, adding that \u201cresidents can expect an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues.\u201d<\/p>\n
Police say investigators believe the killing was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to public safety.<\/p>\n
To help with the investigation, officials are asking anyone with information who was in the area between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. with cellphone, dashcam or surveillance footage to come forward and contact detectives.<\/p>\n
