The Desperate Housewives<\/a> alum met the media mogul in 2013, and they had a memorable first date that lasted four hours.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was like the clich\u00e9 angels singing<\/a> and there was a glow around him and it was immediate chemistry,\u201d she recalled to PEOPLE in 2017, describing her partner as \u201ccharismatic, charming, sweet and funny.\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple got married<\/a> in May 2016 and welcomed their son, Santiago Enrique Bast\u00f3n<\/a>, two years later. They live in Spain and Mexico<\/a>, and also spend some time in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Although Bast\u00f3n tends to stay out of the spotlight, he\u2019s joined Longoria at several red carpet events. Longoria also shares occasional glimpses into their romance during interviews and in social media posts.<\/p>\n

Bast\u00f3n is a media mogul and entrepreneur. In 2018, he founded Elefantec Global<\/a>, an independent film and TV studio serving Latino audiences.<\/p>\n

He was previously the president of Televisa, the largest media company in Latin America.<\/p>\n

According to Elefantec Global\u2019s website, Bast\u00f3n\u2019s career spans more than three decades in the Spanish-language content industry.<\/p>\n

They were introduced by a mutual friend\"Eva<\/p>\n

When Longoria and Bast\u00f3n first met though a mutual friend in 2013, it wasn\u2019t love at first sight.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was getting out of a bad relationship, and he was getting out of a relationship, so there wasn’t a connection,\u201d the actress explained to PEOPLE in 2017. \u201cSo, we had a pleasant conversation but there was no real connection.\u201d<\/p>\n

But when they met again six months later, sparks flew, and they enjoyed a long lunch date the next day. \u201cHe was the most handsome man I\u2019d ever seen,\u201d Longoria said.<\/p>\n

After two years of dating, Bast\u00f3n popped the question<\/a> in a desert in Dubai.<\/p>\n

Longoria shared the news in a December 2015 Instagram post, sharing a photo of the couple kissing, with her ruby and diamond engagement ring<\/a> clearly visible. \u201cUmmmm so this happened….#Engaged #Dubai #Happiness,\u201d she captioned the post.<\/p>\n

Following the engagement, Longoria told PEOPLE that she\u2019d be open to eloping. \u201cFree of guests and guest lists and things like that!\u201d she joked.<\/p>\n

Longoria and Bast\u00f3n had an intimate wedding in Valle de Bravo, Mexico, on May 21, 2016.<\/p>\n

According to Elle<\/a>, the ceremony took place on Lake Av\u00e1ndaro, where they exchanged vows in front of a white cross before celebrating with a meal prepared by Mexican chefs and a night of music and dancing.<\/p>\n

Their first dance was to \u201cVolv\u00ed a Nacer\u201d by Colombian singer Carlos Viver. Several famous guests attended, including Ricky Martin<\/a>,\u00a0Mario Lopez<\/a>,\u00a0Melanie Griffith<\/a>\u00a0and Victoria<\/a> and\u00a0David Beckham<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Six months after the wedding, Longoria gave PEOPLE an update on their romance. \u201cPeople ask us how it is being married now, but we were always married in our hearts<\/a> and our souls, so the wedding was just a beautiful party to celebrate with everyone,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The actress shared that she was \u201cstill floating\u201d and noted that getting married didn\u2019t change their relationship.<\/p>\n

Four months later, Longoria shared photos of her baby boy on Instagram. \u201cFrom the moment he was placed in my arms, I knew no love like this<\/a> before,\u201d she wrote in her caption, calling him a \u201cmiracle.\u201d<\/p>\n

In April 2023, Longoria shared a rare family photo<\/a> in an Instagram<\/a> birthday tribute for her husband. She posted a snap of a smiling Santiago sandwiched between her and Bast\u00f3n, writing, \u201cHappy birthday to the best dad, family man and husband anyone could ask for!\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress is also a stepmom to Bast\u00f3n\u2019s three children<\/a> from his first marriage: Natalia, Mariana and Jose Antonio.<\/p>\n

During an April 2026 chat with PEOPLE, she noted that the biggest change has been \u201cslowing down<\/a>,\u201d adding, \u201cThey really enjoy life in Spain. They love a long meal. You\u2019re never in a rush.\u201d<\/p>\n

The family spent more time in L.A. while Longoria was working on The Fifth Wheel, her second film as a director.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have dinner every night and have a glass of wine all the time,\u201d the director said during an April 2022 Entertainment Tonight<\/a>interview. \u201cPlus, we are so busy in our day that at night we have so much to talk about that we actually love unplugging and talking at the end of each night.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking with PEOPLE in May 2017, Longoria opened up about life one year into their marriage.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy husband is the best part of life<\/a>,\u201d she said. \u201cLike, people get really annoyed with us because we love each other so much!\u201d<\/p>\n

She shared that they are \u201cconstantly discovering\u201d new things about each other, and emphasized how compatible they are and their shared values of family, friends and travel.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot we learned together about life,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
