{"id":662197,"date":"2026-05-11T12:21:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T12:21:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/662197\/"},"modified":"2026-05-11T12:21:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T12:21:10","slug":"canadas-largest-redevelopment-draws-robust-luxury-lineuo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/662197\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada&#8217;s Largest Redevelopment Draws Robust Luxury Lineuo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAn epicenter for luxury and upscale retailing is emerging in the 5 million-square-foot, mixed-use Oakridge Park, <a href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/tag\/canada-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_canada-2\" data-tag=\"canada-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Canada<\/a>\u2018s largest redevelopment, opening May 28 just south of downtown Vancouver.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe luxury lineup includes Alexander Wang, Chanel, Ferragamo, Brunello\u00a0Cucinelli, <a href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/sourcing-journal\/trade\/usmca-mexico-canada-trade-agreements-trump-sheinbaum-carney-tariffs-1238924530\/\" id=\"related_article_link_canada-2\" data-tag=\"canada-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Canada<\/a> Goose, Christian Louboutin,\u00a0Dolce &amp; Gabbana, Harry Rosen, Loewe, Longchamp, Loro Piana, <a href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/tag\/louis-vuitton-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_louis-vuitton-2\" data-tag=\"louis-vuitton-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Louis Vuitton<\/a>, Maison Margiela, Max Mara, Miu Miu, Moncler, Prada, Thom Browne, Versace, Acne Studios\u00a0and Valentino.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tLuxury jewelry and watch brands opening at Oakridge Park are Bulgari, Chaumet, Chow Tai Fook, David Yurman, Leah Alexandra, Rolex, Swarovski, Tag Heuer, Tiffany &amp; Co. and\u00a0Tudor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAnd several contemporary fashion, beauty and wellness brands are in the mix, including Alo, Arc\u2019teryx, Aritzia, Brown Shoes, Boss, Coach, Diptyque, Green Tee Golf Shop, Lululemon, Lush Brow Bar, Maje, Mophead, Sandro, Sephora, Sisley Paris, Sporting Life, Petit Pont\u00a0and Veronica Beard.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOakridge Park\u2019s shopping center has 650,000 square feet of retail, with 100 stores, about 85 percent of which will be open for business May 28.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWithin that 650,000 square feet is a 140,000-square-foot former Hudson\u2019s Bay department store being re-merchandised with a 55,000-square-foot Altea fitness and wellness club among other uses seen opening their doors a year from now.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn another phase of development further into the future, Oakridge Park is planning an \u201copen format, village-style\u201d retail setting adding 250,000 square feet more of retail space to the project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOakridge Park is a project of QuadReal Property Group and Westbank. QuadReal is a Vancouver-based global real estate investment, development and management company with 98 billion Canadian dollars in assets. Among QuadReal\u2019s largest assets are 22 Bishopsgate and Space House in London, and The Post Building in downtown Vancouver. QuadReal is the real estate arm of the British Columbia Investment Management Corp. Westbank is a prominent Canadian real estate development company known for luxury projects and also headquartered in Vancouver.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOakridge Park, located about 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver, is on the site of a former 1980s enclosed, regional shopping mall that was called Oakridge Center. \u201cThe retailers at that time had performances that [ranked] either first or second in Canada in terms of productivity per square foot,\u201d Chrystal Burns, executive vice president, Canadian retail experience for QuadReal, told WWD. \u201cSo Oakridge Park is situated on a well-established retail node that\u2019s very well connected with the rapid transit line between downtown Vancouver and Vancouver International Airport,\u201d Burns said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe complex anticipates attracting 40 million visitors annually, including 28 million just for shopping. It will be competing with Vancouver\u2019s main shopping destinations, among them the CF Pacific Centre; Robson Street; the Metropolis at Metrotown, which is considered the largest mall in British Columbia with more than 400 stores located about 20 minutes from downtown; the Park Royal Shopping Centre<br \/>in West Vancouver with around 280 retailers; CF Richmond Centre, with more than 200 stores located near the airport, and the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet\u00a0center, which is also near the airport.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/wp-content\/themes\/vip\/pmc-wwd-2021\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.gif\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/HQ080_0023146_VIEW-03_MEDIA-MIXING-CHAMBER.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"512\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tA rendering of the shopping center at Oakridge Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAside from the robust retail lineup, Oakridge Park features a\u00a0nearly nine-acre\u00a0public park where about 10,000 trees have been planted, four residential towers, office space, a library, a civic center, a community center and six stages for performances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s a truly integrated mixed-use development. It\u2019s the biggest redevelopment that Canada has ever seen,\u201d Burns said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAlso opening at Oakridge Park is the Delysees Champagne Bar, and Vancouver\u2019s first Time Out Market bringing in local chefs and culinary talent, such as\u00a0Feenie\u2019s\u00a0by Chef Rob\u00a0Feenie, Mee Bar from Chanthy Yen, Lunch Lady,\u00a0MaKaam\u00a0from Baan Lao,\u00a0DownLow\u00a0Chicken, Barnacle by Bar Bravo and Peacock by Chef Vikram Vij, among others.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/wp-content\/themes\/vip\/pmc-wwd-2021\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.gif\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/thirtysixshots_Z72_7423-Final-Edit17-1.jpg\" alt=\"Chrystal Burns\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"850\" width=\"450\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tChrystal Burns<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe city is very excited about this opening,\u201d Burns said. \u201cIt\u2019s been 10 years in the making. We have an amazing assortment of luxury retailers, lots of cultural and dining offerings, and we\u2019re going to have one of the biggest Time Out Markets globally, with 40,000 square feet on the inside and 10,000 on an outside deck\u201d overlooking the park. \u201cWe\u2019ve dedicated a lot of space to these open format gathering spaces, which I think creates a different feel, and sets Oakridge Park apart from anything else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe city of Vancouver recently rezoned the area for higher density, allowing QuadReal to build towers on the site, Burns explained. The towers will have both rental apartments and condos, and the city will operate the civic center and the affordable housing component.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s just everything in one place, which is where we believe retail is going,\u201d Burns said. \u201cIt\u2019s all about that experience, the dwell time, and spending time with family and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cOakridge Park was envisioned as a living city, where nature, culture, community and urban life come together in a deeply connected way,\u201d Gregory Henriquez, principal at Henriquez Partners Architects, which designed the project, said in a statement. \u201cThe goal was to reimagine the traditional shopping center as a complete urban neighborhood.
