A Winnipeg high school recently brought a pop of colour and a sense of joy to a nearby health centre.<\/p>\n
Students from Coll\u00e8ge Churchill High School visited Riverview Health Centre, a multi\u2010program facility providing rehabilitation, palliative care, and long-term care, to become teachers, leading painting sessions with residents.<\/p>\n
Creativity shared between generations<\/p>\n
Together, the students and residents, through an intergenerational program, created beautiful art pieces featuring everything from landscapes to flowers to butterflies.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“They were so helpful with the residents,” said Jake Bell, a student teacher who helped lead the program. “You could see them confidently take what they learned in class and pass it on.”<\/p>\n
They used watercolour paints to create the pieces and later hung them in the facility’s solarium.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Residents who participated in the program say the moments spent working with the youth were just as meaningful as the art itself.<\/p>\n
“They were great. Really good kids,” said Riverview resident Jo in a statement on Facebook. “I really enjoyed spending that time together. I thought it was a great idea, and I\u2019d love to do it again.”<\/p>\n
