It was a busy weekend for Winnipeg firefighters after they were called to four different fires across the city.<\/p>\n
First fire quickly contained on Notre Dame Avenue<\/p>\n
The first fire broke out just after 6 p.m. on Sunday in a three-storey mixed-use commercial and residential building in the 600 block of Notre Dame Avenue.<\/p>\n
Smoke and flames were seen coming from a balcony of the building,\u00a0 but crews were able to quickly knock down the fire and prevent it from spreading. It was under control within about 10 minutes<\/p>\n
No one was injured.\u00a0Officials believe the fire was accidental, likely caused by careless disposal of smoking materials.<\/p>\n
Second fire forces crews to retreat before re-entering Spence Street building<\/p>\n
A second fire was reported later Sunday night, shortly after 11 p.m., at a two-storey rooming house in the 600 block of Spence Street.<\/p>\n
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke conditions and initially had to withdraw from the building. Crews later re-entered and fought the fire from inside, bringing it under control shortly after midnight.

\nAll occupants of the building self-evacuated. There were no injuries reported.<\/p>\n
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
Sprinklers help limit damage in early morning apartment fire on Guy Savoie Drive<\/p>\n
Just before 3:30 a.m. Monday, a third fire broke out in a\u00a0four-storey apartment building on Guy Savoie Drive near the St. Boniface Industrial Park.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Crews found light smoke in the building and learned that the building’s sprinkler system kicked in and extinguished the fire.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Damages were contained to the suite where the fire originated. No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
The cause is still under investigation.<\/p>\n
Early morning fire on Waverley Street also controlled by sprinklers<\/p>\n
The fourth fire broke out just before 5:30 a.m. Monday in a four-storey apartment building in the 2500 block of Waverley Street.<\/p>\n
Once again, the building’s sprinklers kicked in and extinguished the fire before crews arrived.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While fire damage was contained to the suite where the fire originated, other neighbouring suites sustained some water damage.<\/p>\n
There were no injuries reported.<\/p>\n
