Enzo Maresca\u2019s main target is a top-four finish next season<\/a> in the Premier League with Chelsea. However, ambitious supporters may be dreaming of bigger things, especially after seeing their team dismantle Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final this month.<\/p>\n

Pellegrino Matarazzo, the former Hoffenheim and Stuttgart manager, was amazed by what he just saw from Chelsea\u2019s Moises Caicedo<\/a> at the Club World Cup tournament.<\/p>\n

He made the bold claim that the 23-year-old Blues star will become the best defensive midfielder on the planet.<\/p>\n

When discussing Chelsea, Matarazzo told The Athletic<\/a>: \u201cIt\u2019s just a great team and when I see (Moises) Caicedo, how he plays\u2026 oh man. This guy is amazing. If I had a dream team, Caicedo would definitely be a part of that. For me, he will be the best No.6 in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

In fairness, Caicedo has just finished an extraordinary 2024\/25 season, delivering top-class performances on such a consistent basis.<\/p>\n

The conversation for the world\u2019s best No.6 midfielder right now involves the likes of Manchester City\u2019s Rodri and Real Madrid\u2019s Aurelien\u00a0Tchouameni. However, Chelsea\u2019s midfield powerhouse is right in the mix as well.<\/p>\n

Levi Colwill agrees when it comes to Caicedo\u2019s brilliance<\/a>, claiming he will definitely become one of the best midfielders in the world.<\/p>\n

The Ecuador international has proven he can do a bit of everything. In terms of defending, he covers so much ground with such ease and is brilliant at winning back possession. He\u2019s composed and technical with the ball at his feet, too.<\/p>\n

As well as Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez has been majorly impressive in Chelsea\u2019s central midfield area for quite a while now.<\/p>\n

Back in January 2024, Fernandez mentioned his blossoming relationship with Caicedo<\/a>, both on and off the pitch. It feels like the Blues stars in the centre of the park have only gone from strength to strength since.<\/p>\n

Chelsea value Caicedo and Fernandez as elite midfielders<\/a>, something they are now showing on a consistent basis.<\/p>\n

If the duo stick together, combined with Romeo Lavia and Cole Palmer, the Blues won\u2019t lose many midfield battles.<\/p>\n
