Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) \u2014 The Just for Giggles<\/a> cycling team is on a mission.<\/p>\n

“We feel we can have a good impact on making awareness,” said team captain Rick Dalton. “We ride a lot.”<\/p>\n

The group took their indoor training outside Monday.<\/p>\n

“Riding indoors in OK, but it gets old,” Dalton said. “So it’s nice to get outside in the sun, get some vitamin C.”<\/p>\n

The team hosted a 16-mile training ride across Rochester ahead of the 2026 Tour de Cure Finger Lakes<\/a> fundraising ride for the American Diabetes Association.<\/p>\n

“There’s a really great sense of community,” said team member Sarah McDonell. “And all the riders support each other.”<\/p>\n

Founded nearly 15 years ago, the team decided to get involved with the local event a couple years ago for fun to raise money for the important cause.<\/p>\n

“Our goal is to raise $25,000 as a team,” Dalton said.<\/p>\n

“We’re out there riding, putting in miles, and it helps raise awareness versus just a standard fundraiser without any other activity part of it,” Dalton continued.<\/p>\n

The team says all riders are welcome to join.<\/p>\n

“It’s nice that there are different distances to choose from, so it’s really inclusive for a lot of different riding abilities,” McDonell said.<\/p>\n

The Tour de Cure Finger Lakes kicks off Saturday, June 6 from Stokoe Farms. <\/p>\n
