Ahead of its release, the game debuted on OpenCritic<\/a> with a 76 score, with 62% of critics recommending the title. Despite the seemingly mixed score, Directive 8020 has largely been praised for its setting, atmosphere, and story.<\/p>\n IGN\u2019s Leana Hafer<\/a> praised the game, calling it a \u201cstep forward for The Dark Pictures Anthology in terms of spectacle and storytelling, making it a chilling and impressive start to the second season of the series.\u201d PC Gamer\u2019s Elie Gould<\/a> said the game was \u201ceverything you could want from a sci-fi horror game: Body horror aliens, the unwavering dread that all of us are insignificant when set against the great expanse of the universe, and fun QTEs.\u201d<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n DualShockers\u2019 Christian Bognar<\/a> also had praise for the game, noting it\u2019s \u201ca good addition to the Dark Pictures anthology and a solid start to its second season.
