The Dutchman was caught up in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/cycling\/giro-ditalias-horror-crash-medical-reports-yates-withdraws-vine-suffers-elbow-fracture-and-soler-a-pelvic-fracture\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">major crash in stage two<\/a> and the injuries he sustained have proved too much to continue. With his withdrawal, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/jonas-vingegaard\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jonas Vingegaard<\/a> loses an important climbing domestique for the weeks ahead.The eighth abandonment of this Giro is confirmed: Kelderman <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/vismaleaseabike\/status\/2054124520772862236?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">will not be on the start line<\/a> the day after the first rest day. In the crash \u2014 which also forced out several UAE Team Emirates-XRG riders and GC contender Santiago Buitrago \u2014 the Dutchman picked up a number of injuries.
