His latest injury is a muscle tear and actually requires a six-week rehab. However, clubs are obliged to release their players for the World Cup in 3 weeks. In Canada, there’s talk of only a 4-5 week break, meaning Davies could return just in time for the start of the tournament, which is a huge risk.

Even if he were to travel only as a supporter, Davies’ rehab would not proceed ideally, as it would constantly be interrupted by intercontinental flights and domestic travel. On the other hand, if Bayern were to insist on completing the rehab entirely in Munich, it would be tough for Davies as he would miss his home World Cup, a once in a lifetime experience.

Bayern are facing a dilemma regarding Alphonso Davies.
