\n\tMichael Che<\/a> is roasting the \u201cRoast of Kevin Hart.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe comedian and \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d star was originally slated to perform at the live Netflix event on Sunday, two sources involved in the production tell Variety, but he ended up pulling out due to scheduling difficulties with \u201cSNL.\u201d (Che was not alone \u2014 sources say the roast lineup had undergone quite a bit of shuffling, with several last-minute additions and dropouts.)<\/p>\n

\n\tNow, Che is taking to social media to air some grievances about the event, writing on Instagram<\/a>, \u201cWhite guys and Black people joke different. Black guy roast like, \u2018look at this n\u2014- shoes!\u2019 White roasts are like, \u2018Slavery, math, slain teens, sex crimes, slurs, family secrets.\u2019 White guys don\u2019t give a fuck about they shoes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tChe\u2019s post appears to reference some of the edgier jokes made by roast host Shane Gillis, Tony Hinchcliffe and others. Gillis made jokes mocking Hart\u2019s height that referenced slavery and lynching \u2014 the latter quip he admitted required \u201cthree weeks of deliberation.\u201d And Hinchcliffe indulged in his fair share of racial humor as well, with one particularly shocking joke about George Floyd that drew backlash online.<\/p>\n

\n\tOther comics, like Jeff Ross and Katt Williams, joked about Hart once attending a Diddy party. Pete Davidson and Hinchcliffe both had jokes referencing (but not saying) the N-word. And Dwayne Johnson, Gillis, Ross and more made fun of Hart\u2019s late father\u2019s addiction to crack cocaine. (\u201cNothing was off limits,\u201d Ross told Variety in an interview<\/a> the day after the live telecast.)<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Che did not name any of the comedians on the dais, he did troll some of the behind-the-scenes writers of the roast.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cLet\u2019s do a roast celebrating the career of the most successful Black comic in the last 10 years,\u201d Che wrote in a separate post<\/a>. \u201cI love that! Who should we get to write it?\u201d On the next slide, Che included a photo of five joke writers hired by Gillis \u2014\u00a0Nick Mullen, J.P. McDade, Mike Lawrence, Dan St. Germain and Zac Amico \u2014\u00a0all of whom are white.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cC\u2019monnnnnnnnn\u2026 that\u2019s not funny?\u201d Che added.<\/p>\n

\n\tRepresentatives for Netflix had no comment. Che\u2019s managers did not immediately respond to Variety\u2018s requests for comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tThose called out by Che are not the only scribes who worked on the roast. It\u2019s worth noting that the telecast has 17 credited writers<\/a>, several of whom are Black. Many of the comedians hired their own teams of joke writers, including Hinchcliffe and Chelsea Handler, who posted a photo<\/a> with some of her writers and tagged them in the caption. There were other writers hired to churn out punchlines for various talent, too, like comedian Madison Sinclair, who slipped some of her favorite unused roast jokes<\/a> to Variety.<\/p>\n

\n\tMcDade, for one, cheekily acknowledged Che\u2019s diss by resharing his post \u2014 but only the photo, not Che\u2019s words. \u201cDon\u2019t swipe,\u201d McDade wrote.<\/p>\n
