Actor Junaid Khan<\/a> was recently seen opposite Sai Pallavi<\/a> in Ek Din, produced by Aamir Khan Productions<\/a>. Released in theatres on May 1, the film failed to make a strong impact at the box office. Junaid, who is still trying to establish himself in the film industry, has seen mixed responses to his projects so far. While his debut film Maharaj received critical acclaim, his theatrical releases Loveyapa and Ek Din<\/a> struggled commercially. During a conversation with Vickey Lalwani on YouTube, Junaid opened up about the reception of Ek Din. He admitted that the team had high hopes for the film, but accepted that it could not connect with a wider audience. According to him, everyone involved genuinely enjoyed making the movie and believed in the story, but not every film manages to work commercially.
Junaid added that while many viewers appreciated the film, the overall audience response was not strong enough to turn it into a box office success. Despite the disappointment, he appeared calm about the outcome and acknowledged that failures are also part of the industry.<\/p>\n

The actor also spoke about how Aamir reacts when a film under his banner underperforms. Junaid shared that his father becomes emotionally invested in every project he produces and finds it difficult when things do not go as planned. However, he said Aamir eventually moves forward by keeping himself busy and continuing to work on new ideas.<\/p>\n

Why Junaid Khan doesn’t want to involve Aamir Khan in his movies
In the same interview, Junaid revealed why he has become cautious about involving his father in his films. He said the decision came after his experience with Ek Din. According to Junaid, the project was initially supposed to move ahead quickly, with Maharaj director Siddharth P. Malhotra attached to it.
Junaid explained that he had loved the script and only approached Aamir for a second opinion. But once Aamir heard the narration, he became deeply interested in the project and decided he wanted to produce it himself. Junaid recalled that it turned into an emotional decision for his father, who was excited about making a film for his son.<\/p>\n

However, Junaid said there was one major downside. <\/p>\n

He explained, \u201cI think he\u2019s a fantastic producer, especially for a film like Ek Din. But what ends up happening is, then it takes five years to make. AKP (Aamir Khan Productions) is big production banner, it takes time. So then I realised, if I take it to dad and he loves it, then he\u2019ll be like, \u2018I\u2019ll produce it,\u2019 and then I\u2019ll have a film coming out once in five years. Which is great for him. He\u2019s at a stage in his career where he can do one film in five years. I\u2019m exaggerating a bit, I guess, but yeah, he can do one film in three years, four years, five years, and it\u2019s fine. But I\u2019m just starting out. I need to have a steady stream of work. And dad\u2019s now dying to make another film with me, but I\u2019m like, \u2018in a bit.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Directed by Sunil Pandey, Ek Din is a remake of the Thai romantic drama One Day. The film follows a young man who gets a rare opportunity to spend a day with the woman he secretly loves. Despite its emotional storyline and star cast, the movie reportedly earned around Rs 5.4 crore worldwide in 11 days, according to Sacnilk.<\/p>\n
