{"id":666049,"date":"2026-05-13T05:58:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T05:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/666049\/"},"modified":"2026-05-13T05:58:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T05:58:09","slug":"safety-alert-issued-after-toronto-police-say-small-dog-killed-owner-injured-by-larger-dog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/666049\/","title":{"rendered":"Safety alert issued after Toronto police say small dog killed, owner injured by larger dog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Toronto police officers say they\u2019re trying to locate an off-leash dog that killed a smaller dog and injured its owner after an incident in the city\u2019s west end Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tps.ca\/media-centre\/news-releases\/65911\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">public safety alert<\/a> issued by the Toronto Police Service, 12 Division officers were called to the Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West area at around 4:10 p.m. for an assault call involving a larger dog described as an abandoned, brown pit bull mix.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe small dog was killed as a result of the attack, and the owner sustained non-life-threatening injuries,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis attack was unprovoked.
