THE CANADIAN PRESS\/Darryl Dyck<\/p>\n<p>She acquired a 41 per cent stake in Alberta\u2019s only women\u2019s professional sports team, and one of six teams in the Canadian league that opened its second season in April.<\/p>\n<p>Mitchell joined an ownership group of 36 investors that includes co-founder and chief executive officer Lara Murphy and board chair Deanna Zumwalt. Women hold a 76 per cent stake in the club.<\/p>\n<p>Mitchell, a University of Tennessee graduate, founded the clothing brand DDAM in 2020. She was previously a strategic operations manager for the clothing line Baja East and a brand ambassador for PopSockets.<\/p>\n<p>The Wild, which plays out of McMahon Stadium, went 9-14-2 in the team\u2019s inaugural year and averaged just under 4,000 in attendance per game in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The club opened this season with two losses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWomen\u2019s sports are one of the most exciting and underappreciated growth opportunities in the world right now,\u201d Mitchell said Tuesday in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCalgary Wild FC represents everything I believe in \u2014 opportunity, resilience, ambition, and community.
