An award-winning global doc pairs breathtaking videography of Vancouver Island wildlife with exclusive interviews with respected global figures, including Neale Donald Walsch and Patch Adams, showing at a free screening at UVic.<\/p>\n
Award-winning filmmakers Alan Baiss, a Victoria native, and Joseh Garcia return to Vancouver Island for a special, free community screening of their latest documentary, Who Do You Think You Are? <\/p>\n
In an era of global uncertainty, the film poses a vital question: \u201cWhat are the current global crises asking of us?\u201d Unlike traditional social issue documentaries, Baiss and Garcia\u2019s work addresses world crises through a spiritual lens, suggesting that global change begins with a deep, internal understanding of self.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis film is a labour of love and an offering to the community,\u201d the filmmakers say in a news release. \u201cWe wanted to explore how the spiritual notion of \u2018knowing who we are\u2019 can fundamentally shift how we interact with the challenges of the modern world.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fresh off a successful tour across India, where the film was showcased in festivals, ashrams, and high schools, the documentary arrives in Greater Victoria with critical acclaim, including a nomination for Best Feature Length Documentary at the Montreal Independent Film Festival.<\/p>\n
Who Do You Think You Are? is the duo\u2019s third philosophical-spiritual exploration. It includes wildlife images captured by Alan Baiss and a moving soundtrack composed by Garcia.<\/p>\n
Who Do You Think You Are? screens for free Sunday, May 24, at 6:45 p.m. at the UVic Multicultural Centre, followed by a session with the filmmakers.<\/p>\n
