Pile driving on Langley\u2019s Industrial Avenue for SkyTrain starts Thursday<\/p>\n

Pile driving starts Thursday, May 14, along Langley\u2019s Industrial Avenue as work continues on the pylons for the new SkyTrain extension.<\/p>\n
The Surrey-Langley SkyTrain Project announced that construction of the elevated guideway is to start on the stretch between 203 Street and 200 Street.<\/p>\n
Pile driving is expected to take place intermittently for the rest of the year and into early 2027.<\/p>\n
Crews are to start at 200 Street and work east.<\/p>\n
The project announcement noted that pile driving can increase noise and cause vibrations, cause light fixtures to sway, and create movement in a glas of water.<\/p>\n
This will be the second major pile driving project in the area, following similar work for the construction of the final station at 203 Street.<\/p>\n
Major construction will take place from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday to Saturday, and there may be intermittent welding overnight, as well as on Sundays and holidays.<\/p>\n
Traffic on Industrial Avenue will continue to be limited to eastbound only, and part of the northbound lane of 200 Street near Industrial Avenue will be closed from mid-May for up to a month.<\/p>\n
Pedestrians and cyclists will be limited to the north side of Industrial Avenue only.<\/p>\n
Businesses along the route will still be open during construction.<\/p>\n
The $6-billion Surrey-Langley SkyTrain extension will add 16 kilometres and eight stations<\/a> to the transit network, and is expected to be completed in 2029.
