It is now impossible to miss.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last few weeks, and accelerating this week especially, official FIFA World Cup branding, signage, and other decorative installations are now emerging in highly visible public spaces, transforming everyday commuter routes and civic landmarks into reminders that the world\u2019s largest single sporting event is fast approaching.<\/p>\n<p>Outside SkyTrain\u2019s YVR-Airport Station, a new multi-storey high FIFA World Cup Vancouver sign now spans the station structure\u2019s glass exterior, greeting arriving visitors immediately upon exiting Vancouver International Airport and stepping onto the Canada Line.<\/p>\n<p>Prominent banners celebrating the tournament have also been applied onto the columns inside the historic CPR station building of the Waterfront Station public transit hub.<\/p>\n<p>Inside SkyTrain\u2019s Main Street-Science World Station, official tournament graphics and wayfinding elements have also appeared to direct passengers to the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhive.com\/vancouver\/translink-fifa-world-cup-vancouver-transit-services-skytrain-bus-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">official and only walking route to BC Place Stadium\u2019s entrance<\/a>. (Kenneth Chan)<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the most striking temporary change is<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhive.com\/vancouver\/vancouver-science-world-fifa-world-cup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"> unfolding at Science World, where the landmark geodesic dome is in the process of being converted into a giant soccer ball<\/a> \u2014 an unmistakable symbol that Vancouver\u2019s FIFA World Cup era has arrived.<\/p>\n<p>Science World\u2019s soccer ball-themed dome transformation was <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhive.com\/vancouver\/vancouver-science-world-fifa-world-cup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">first publicly announced on May 5<\/a>, and work the installation began immediately after.<\/p>\n<p>As of today, a crew of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhive.com\/vancouver\/science-world-lighting-upgrade-rope-access-technicians\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">rope access technicians<\/a> \u2014 the same type of highly specialized professionals who <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhive.com\/vancouver\/science-world-lighting-upgrade-rope-access-technicians\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">cleaned and repaired the dome\u2019s exterior and installed a brand new lighting system with 651 programmable LED lights in 2023<\/a> \u2014 have completed roughly one-third of the replica of the adidas Trionda, which is the official name of the 2026 FIFA World Cup playing soccer ball.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"fifa world cup science world skytrain may 13 2026 \" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1100\" height=\"619\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2271341\" style=\"color:transparent\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/fifa-world-cup-science-world-skytrain-may-13-2026-1.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2271341\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Crews installing FIFA-branded decorations onto the SkyTrain pillar (foreground) and Science World\u2019s geodesic dome (background), as seen on May 13, 2026. (Kenneth Chan)<\/p>\n<p>The 360-degree, 40-metre-diameter installation, called \u201cThe Beautiful Dome,\u201d is not applied to the reflective silver steel surface of the dome directly. Rather, these are hexagon-shaped banners that are carefully attached to the external structural system that supports the geodesic dome, which leaves an air space below the structure\u2019s surface. The installation is expected to reach full completion by early June.<\/p>\n<p>The soccer-themed transformation is especially fitting for Science World not only because it reimagines one of the host city\u2019s most recognizable landmarks, but also because of the venue\u2019s direct role in the FIFA World Cup festivities.<\/p>\n<p>Science World will host the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhive.com\/vancouver\/science-world-fifa-museum-soccer-exhibit-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Soccer &amp; Technology exhibit from the FIFA Museum in Zurich, Switzerland<\/a>, with the exhibit opening on May 15 and running through Sept. 7, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Science World also serves as the visual gateway to the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhive.com\/vancouver\/translink-fifa-world-cup-vancouver-transit-services-skytrain-bus-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">official and sole pedestrian route to BC Place Stadium during the tournament<\/a>. This secure, official route begins outside Main Street-Science World Station and follows Quebec Street and Pacific Boulevard to the stadium entrance.
