{"id":669033,"date":"2026-05-14T14:04:19","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T14:04:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/669033\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T14:04:19","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T14:04:19","slug":"2-men-charged-after-possible-extortion-related-shooting-in-surrey-police-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/669033\/","title":{"rendered":"2 men charged after possible extortion-related shooting in Surrey: police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says two men have been arrested and charged in relation to a shooting at a home where the resident had been a victim of extortion threats.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The incident, which damaged the home and a vehicle, happened on April 22 around 12:40 a.m. PT in the 13400 block of 87A Avenue, according to an SPS news release issued Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">No one was injured in the shooting, police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The SPS said its extortion response team identified a suspect vehicle and obtained a search warrant, and the two men were arrested during the execution of the warrant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Twenty-two-year-old Damanjeet Singh and 30-year-old Pardaman Singh are charged with discharging a firearm into a place knowing or being reckless as to whether someone was present, and one count of possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Both men are foreign nationals and police have engaged the Canada Border Services Agency, according to the release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The two have been remanded in custody, police said.
