(Alexandra Newbould) <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Her next appearance is on May 26, also by video.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Yang is facing a charge of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/local\/toronto\/2026\/05\/13\/mother-charged-with-first-degree-murder-in-death-of-toddler-in-scarborough\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/local\/toronto\/2026\/05\/13\/mother-charged-with-first-degree-murder-in-death-of-toddler-in-scarborough\/\">first-degree murder<\/a> in the death of her 22-month-old daughter, Oriana Cho.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The toddler was found by police and paramedics without vital signs inside their home in the area of Midland Avenue and Steeles Avenue East on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/1778792589_157_6ORIASPXUVDQTPFKTFQZZ5VA7U.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/>Scarborough homicide Police cruisers are parked outside a home on Port Royal Trail in Scarborough on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. (Jacob Estrin) <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police said Cho\u2019s father, who was not at home at the time, made the 911 call.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Paramedics were able to revive her and take her to the hospital, but police said Cho died the next day.
