Allen, is being sold at a valuation of over $4 billion. <\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg\">Dundon purchased a controlling stake the Hurricanes from Peter Karmanos Jr. for $420 million before assuming full ownership of the franchise in 2021. <\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg\">According to <a class=\"text-secondary underline underline-offset-2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/11\/20\/cnbc-official-nhl-team-valuations-2024.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" hreflang=\"en\">CNBC\u2019s 2024 NHL franchise valuations<\/a>, the Hurricanes are worth approximately $1.3 billion today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg\">At the time Dundon purchased Carolina from Karmanos Jr, the franchise was mired in the longest playoff drought in the NHL. The Hurricanes have made the postseason in every season since Dundon bought the team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg\">Dundon, 53, has long made other forays into the world of sports business.
