{"id":671207,"date":"2026-05-15T13:20:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T13:20:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/671207\/"},"modified":"2026-05-15T13:20:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T13:20:08","slug":"orion-construction-advanced-cyclotron-systems-break-ground-on-new-surrey-facility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/671207\/","title":{"rendered":"Orion Construction, Advanced Cyclotron Systems break ground on new surrey facility"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SURREY, B.C. \u2013 Ground has been broken on a new purpose-built facility in Surrey by <a href=\"https:\/\/orionconstruction.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Orion Construction<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/advancedcyclotron.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Advanced Cyclotron Systems, Inc.<\/a> (ACSI), a Canadian-owned company that specializes in cyclotron manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>Located at 19145 34A Avenue in Campbell Heights, the facility will replace ACSI\u2019s existing 24,000 square foot Richmond plant with a 48,000 square foot manufacturing space specifically designed to support the assembly, testing and development of advanced cyclotron systems used in nuclear medicine, medical isotope production and emerging cancer therapies, explains a release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe built ACSI into a global leader in the nuclear medicine industry from a small facility in Richmond, and this move to Surrey is the next chapter,\u201d noted Richard Eppich, ACSI CEO, in a statement. \u201cThis facility ensures that the innovation, the jobs and the intellectual property that will support the next era of cancer diagnosis and treatment remain in Canada. We will now have the room and infrastructure to serve our customers faster and continue to compete with anyone in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ACSI currently has more than 80 systems deployed worldwide and is recognized as the fourth-largest cyclotron manufacturer globally.<\/p>\n<p>The new facility includes multiple dedicated cyclotron assembly pads, engineered concrete pits and trenches, 28-foot ceilings with integrated crane systems and a dedicated BC Hydro substation capable of supporting simultaneous testing of multiple cyclotron units, the release notes. The expanded footprint will more than double ACSI\u2019s production capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Once operational, the facility is expected to support more than 120 full-time employees within five years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpecialized industrial facilities like this require early collaboration, careful planning and a deep understanding of the client\u2019s operations,\u201d emphasized Joshua Gaglardi, president of Orion Construction. \u201cThis facility has been designed around ACSI\u2019s highly technical manufacturing needs, from the crane systems and testing infrastructure to the precision environments required for cyclotron production.
