The action<\/p>\n

The seller had lived in the unit for decades and was part of a tight-knit community in the 12-unit building. Once the price was reduced, a neighbour made the winning offer, said listing agent Dwayne Launt. Before that, he had received one other offer that didn\u2019t work out. <\/p>\n

The property had to be relisted a couple of times to find a buyer, he said, largely due to the need for updates.<\/p>\n

But Mr. Launt was touched by the camaraderie of the neighbourhood. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt took a while to sell because it was a renovation project, but one of the most lovely things, honestly, was the open house,\u201d said Mr. Launt. \u201cIt\u2019s really a Strathcona community story.\u201d<\/p>\n

The building is steps to schools, shops and amenities in the historic neighbourhood of Strathcona, close to downtown, Main Street and Commercial Drive. <\/p>\n

The agent\u2019s take<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve definitely had a spurt here, so things are selling and prices have had to come down. But I think there\u2019s a small late spring rally,\u201d said Mr. Launt.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s what we are feeling. And of course, the real estate numbers will say that as well. Not a massive rally, but people still have to move in the summer. We have listings coming up.\u201d<\/p>\n
