Pro<\/a>\u00a0users of\u00a0ChatGPT<\/a>\u00a0can now connect their financial accounts, see a dashboard of their finances, ask the chatbot questions and receive answers that are grounded in their financial context.<\/p>\n

OpenAI<\/a>\u00a0released this personal finance experience to Pro users in the United States on Friday (May 15) and plans to roll it out to\u00a0Plus<\/a>\u00a0and other users in the future, the company said in a Friday\u00a0press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The ability to connect financial accounts is supported by more than 12,000 financial institutions, according to the release. The secure linking of accounts is enabled by\u00a0Plaid<\/a>.\u00a0Intuit<\/a> will soon support this feature as well.<\/p>\n

More than 200 million people already ask ChatGPT questions about personal finance every month, the release said.<\/p>\n

\u201cRecent advances in\u00a0GPT-5.5<\/a> make ChatGPT stronger at reasoning through the complex, context-dependent questions that personal finance often requires,\u201d OpenAI said in the release. \u201cWith your financial accounts connected, ChatGPT can combine that reasoning with your real financial context and what you\u2019ve shared about your goals, lifestyles and priorities, helping you spot patterns, understand tradeoffs and plan for big decisions in a way that feels more personal and complete.\u201d<\/p>\n

ChatGPT\u2019s personal finance experience can answer questions about goal planning, travel spend analysis, spending insights, scenario planning, investment\u00a0risks\u00a0and subscription review, per the release.<\/p>\n

OpenAI said this experience is not a replacement for professional financial advice.<\/p>\n

Plaid said\u00a0in\u00a0a Friday\u00a0blog post<\/a>\u00a0that the connectivity it provides to the personal finance experience in ChatGPT enables real-time answers that are grounded in the user\u2019s actual accounts and cash flow.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere has never been a more exciting time to\u00a0be building\u00a0in financial services,\u201d Plaid Chief Technology Officer\u00a0Will Robinson<\/a>\u00a0said in the post. \u201cMore than half of Americans say managing money without AI will soon feel outdated, and every company in FinTech and banking is already thinking about how to meet that moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

When the support of Intuit is live, the new ChatGPT experience will also allow users to take actions such as submitting a credit card application, getting a trusted tax\u00a0estimate\u00a0and scheduling a live session with a local tax expert.<\/p>\n
