(KOAM) &#8212; Hundreds packed Mercy Park on Thursday for the Ozark Center&#8217;s Will&#8217;s Place Block Party.<\/p>\n<p>The event marked the first community celebration of its kind since 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Freeman Health System says the party was a way for community members to observe the serious topic of mental health, educate the public about children&#8217;s mental health needs, and reduce the stigma associated with seeking mental healthcare services in a fun way.<\/p>\n<p>Families were able to enjoy food, games, and various activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe really hope that families can connect and really have conversations,\u201d said Melissa Moore, Will\u2019s Place director. \u201cIf we have even just one person today asking, \u2018How can we support them?\u2019 and \u2018What are the next steps?\u2019 then this is a success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Will\u2019s Place has locations in Joplin at (1800 W. 30th St.), Carl Junction, Carthage, and Neosho, and is part of local school districts.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>COPYRIGHT 2025 BY KOAM NEWS NOW.
