{"id":673610,"date":"2026-05-16T14:45:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-16T14:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/673610\/"},"modified":"2026-05-16T14:45:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-16T14:45:09","slug":"teddy-atlas-sees-only-one-winner-in-dave-allen-vs-filip-hrgovic-its-that-simple","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/673610\/","title":{"rendered":"Teddy Atlas sees only one winner in Dave Allen vs Filip Hrgovic: &#8220;It&#8217;s that simple&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Teddy Atlas has assessed the chances of Dave Allen pulling off an almighty upset against world-ranked heavyweight contender Filip Hrgovic.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/sport\/boxing\/dave-allen-hrgovic-start-time-card-tv-next-fight-b2977775.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The pair will lock horns this evening at Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster<\/a>, with fan-favourite Allen boasting a home advantage in what has been billed as \u2018Dave vs Goliath\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>When considering in-ring advantages, however, it must be said that former world title challenger Hrgovic has his man outgunned in most departments.<\/p>\n<p>The 33-year-old\u2019s last outing saw him unanimously outpoint David Adeleye in August, albeit after a prickly 8th round where he appeared to be in some degree of trouble.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, he proved to be a level above the former British champion, who many would regard as a strong favourite to defeat Allen.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The White Rhino\u2019 has drastically turned his career around since suffering a sixth-round stoppage defeat to Frazer Clarke in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>This resurgence saw him lose a controversial split decision to Johnny Fisher the following year, before winning their rematch by fifth-round stoppage.<\/p>\n<p>But still, there is no escaping the fact that Allen has always lost to tougher opponents, hence why he was handed a unanimous decision defeat against Arslanbek Makhmudov last October.<\/p>\n<p>For this reason, legendary trainer Atlas has said on <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/2AR0YZtjglk?si=_ZzlgVA5B_dOdJrS&amp;t=35\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">his YouTube channel<\/a> that the 34-year-old can hardly hope for much more than a few competitive rounds with Hrgovic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love Allen; he\u2019s Rocky-esque. He keeps trying; he can punch; he\u2019s tough as hell; he\u2019s got a good chin; he comes in the front door all night long. He\u2019s trying to back you down; he\u2019s trying to trap you in the corner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019ll have his moments, but he\u2019s always come up short at the next level. It\u2019s that simple. Hrgovic is just that next level of class, and I think [Allen] comes up short at that level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think [Hrgovic will] look to keep the shorter Allen at the end of his jab and catch him coming in.
