It starts at $1,899, packing 512GB storage.

As far as starting prices go, that’s $100 more than a Pixel 10 Pro Fold and $100 less than a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7; however, both of those come with 256GB in the base model. For 512GB, both products are more expensive, with the Pixel coming in at $1,919 and the Z Fold 7 coming in at $2,199.

      SoC

           Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

      Display

           6.6″ Extreme AMOLED

      RAM

           16GB LPDDR5X + RAM Boost

      Storage

           512GB built-in

      Rear camera

50MP Main Camera Sony LYTIA™ 2.44µm Ultra Pixel Omni-directional All-pixel focus ƒ/1.6 aperture 3.5° OIS, 50MP Ultrawide Camera 12mm focal length 1.28µm Quad Pixel 122° field of view ƒ/2.0 aperture Auto focus, 50MP Periscope Telephoto 3x Optical Zoom & 100x Super Zoom Sony LYTIA™ 600 71mm focal length 1.6µm Quad Pixel

      Front camera

32MP Internal Front Camera 1.28µm Quad Pixel f/2.4 aperture, 20MP External Front Camera 1.22µm Quad Pixel f/2.4 aperture

      Battery

           6000mAh battery

      Charge speed

80W TurboPower™ charging Wireless charging + Reverse charging

      Dimensions

           Open: 160.05 × 144.46 x 4.55 mm Closed: 160.05 × 73.6 × 9.89 mm

      Weight

           243g

      IP Rating

           IP48 & IP49

      Colors

PANTONE Blackened Blue PANTONE Lily White

      Cellular connectivity

           5G Sub-6: n1/2/3/5/7/8/12/13/14/20/25/26/28/29/30/38/ 40/41/48/66/70/71/75/77/78 4G LTE: B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/14/17/18/19/20/25/26/28 /29/30/32/34/38/39/40/41/42/43/48/66/71 3G: W1/2/4/5/8 2G: GSM850/900/1800/1900

      Cover screen

           6.6″ Extreme AMOLED

      Main screen

           8.1″ 2K Extreme AMOLED

      Interior display

           8.1″ 2K Extreme AMOLED

It’s probably the best foldable on the market

I’d take it over the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7

At the risk of sounding like a comparison more than a review, the truth is that there are only three foldable phones that you can buy in the United States. If you’re in the market for this unique style of device, you’re choosing between those three.

The Motorola Razr Fold is 9.9mm thick, which is thinner than a Pixel 10 Pro Fold and about a millimeter thicker than a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. It’s a critical spec, because it’s likely that most of the time, you’re actually not going to be using it with the screen open. It needs to be comfortable to use as a standard smartphone first. Early foldables felt heavy and bulky to carry around and use, the Razr Fold does not.

Motorola nailed the design, with a beautiful Lily White color (unfortunately, the review unit Motorola sent me is black), and a camera placement that’s close enough to the center that it doesn’t leave it sitting on an angle. It’s not too heavy either, weighing about 10g more than an iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Also, Moto delivers a clean software experience, something you really don’t get from its biggest competitor in the space. The device is actually pleasant to use, something I won’t say about Samsung phones that are designed to pull you away from Google services that are baked into Android.

Given the competitive price, software experience, and design, I really think the Razr Fold is the foldable to buy right now.

It’s pretty useful with the pen

Not all foldables have pen support

The Motorola Razr Fold is the only current-generation foldable phone with active pen support, something Google has never included in Pixel foldables and Samsung abandoned with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 to prioritize thinness.

The Moto Pen Ultra really doesn’t do anything that you wouldn’t expect. It pairs via Bluetooth, and it actually doesn’t do anything until it’s paired. When it tries to automatically pair, you can’t use the pen to tap the “Connect” button.

Removing the pen from its charging case will display an icon on the screen, and yes, it works on both the external and internal displays, and hovering over it will display a series of quick actions. By default, those include notes, annotate, screen record, zoom, and a shortcut to Settings. Those Settings include customization for those options, as well as what to launch with a press or a long-press on the pen button.

I’m old, of course, so I love the zoom feature. Obviously, the value proposition of a foldable phone is the bigger screen on the inside, but it’s still not a full-size tablet. If you start trying to read things like graphic novels on it, the text gets small.

Unfortunately, there’s no pen storage with the Razr Fold. It comes in a charging case, and if you want to use it on-the-go, you’ve got to carry that around with you.

                        The camera is surprisingly good

            Battery life is solid too

The Motorola Razr Fold packs a trio of 50MP cameras, including a main f/1.6 sensor, an f/2 ultra-wide, and a 3x zoom lens. The main and zoom lenses have optical image stabilization. There are two front-facing cameras, a 20MP f/2.4 camera on the external screen and a 32MP f/2.4 sensor on the internal screen.

The hardware is there, and the results are pretty good too. It’s right on par with what you’d get out of a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, although while they both have a 3x zoom lens, I think Motorola handles zoom beyond 3x a little better. Google’s still going to have a better camera on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. That’s just the way it is, folks.

Overall, I was fine with the low-light performance, although it could have handled things like streetlights better.

As we’ve seen from other Motorola foldables, which have been flip-style to this point, you can do things with the external display while the camera is being used. You can have the external screen show a preview of the picture, or a fun animation to try and get people to smile or laugh. Internally, you can split the screen to show the camera app and your most recent photo, or just make the camera app full-screen.

The camera is solid, especially for Motorola, something that company has struggled with in the past.

Should you buy the Motorola Razr Fold?

You should buy the Motorola Razr Fold if:

You’re going to buy a foldable smartphone

                                        You care about pen support

You want a clean software experience

You should NOT buy the Motorola Razr Fold if:

You only want a foldable phone as a novelty

You want the best camera on a phone

                                        You want the thinnest foldable

9/10

      SoC

           Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

      Display

           6.6″ Extreme AMOLED

      RAM

           16GB LPDDR5X + RAM Boost

      Storage

           512GB built-in

It’s critical that when buying a foldable phone, you know why you want a foldable screen.
