DOVER, Del. \u2014 For the first time, NASCAR\u2019s All-Star Race heads to Dover Motor Speedway, adding a new chapter to one of the sport\u2019s most distinctive tracks.<\/p>\n
The 1-mile concrete oval known as \u201cThe Monster Mile\u201d will host Sunday\u2019s exhibition event, marking a historic shift for the midseason showcase.<\/p>\n
The race, scheduled for 1 p.m. ET, will cover 350 laps with a unique format featuring two 75-lap segments followed by a 200-lap final segment and a planned competition break near Lap 225. The event also carries a purse of more than $3 million, underscoring its prestige despite being a non-points race.<\/p>\n
Dover\u2019s history stretches back to 1969, when Richard Petty won the track\u2019s inaugural NASCAR Cup Series race. Over the decades, the high-banked concrete surface has earned a reputation for punishing mistakes and testing drivers with its relentless speeds and narrow racing groove.<\/p>\n
The track itself has evolved significantly, including its conversion to concrete in 1995 and extensive modernization projects such as the \u201cMonster Makeover\u201d and the addition of the iconic Miles the Monster statue.<\/p>\n
Beyond the racing, NASCAR and Dover officials are emphasizing fan experience with the debut of the \u201cAll-Star Village,\u201d a two-acre entertainment hub featuring interactive attractions, live performances and family-friendly activities throughout race weekend.<\/p>\n
