<\/p>\nPolice have renewed an appeal for information after a man was stabbed while walking on a footpath at a golf course.<\/p>\n
Officers were called to the scene on Newport Road in Stafford, at about 19:00 BST on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The victim, in his 60s, remains in a critical condition in hospital on Sunday, with specialist officers continuing to support him and his family, Staffordshire Police said.<\/p>\n
The force confirmed that he had been walking along a public footpath through the golf course in the Castlefields area of the town when he was approached from behind.<\/p>\n
Anyone who was in the Castlefields area between 17:00 and 20:00 BST, or those with CCTV or dashcam footage have been asked to get in contact.<\/p>\n
The suspect was described as being in his mid-to-late-20s, of average build, wearing dark clothing and may be of Eastern European descent, police said.<\/p>\n

Officers are maintaining an increased policing presence in the area and are carrying out patrols and house-to-house inquiries.<\/p>\n
Det Insp Dave Rowlands said: “I want to reassure the community that we are doing everything in our power to identify and apprehend those responsible.<\/p>\n
“There is a significant policing operation underway, including increased patrols in the area, and I would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to our officers.<\/p>\n
He said that they were committed to keeping the public informed and ensuring the safety of the community.<\/p>\n
“Your information remains vital to our investigation, and even the smallest detail could make a difference,” he added.<\/p>\n
