Some model solutions indicate pockets of significant snow are possible, according to a Saturday morning statement from ECCC.

“It does look fairly heavy in some areas, especially in the southeast,” said Kyle McCauley, a meteorologist with ECCC.

This rain will become heavy at times throughout the day on Sunday. Total amounts of rain by Monday morning will range from 25 mm to perhaps as high as 50 mm. The exact location of the heaviest rain is still uncertain.

“It could also go further to the north with some cooler temperatures and snow, which will probably be melting lots, but still some snow nonetheless,” McCauley told CBC.

“Depending on where you are, it should be lasting until sometime overnight on Sunday until it moves off into Manitoba.”

Snowfall covers Highway 41 between Alberta and Saskatchewan. (Love For Canada/Facebook)

Sunday evening and overnight temperatures are likely to hover between zero and three degrees. But by Monday, McCauley said temperatures will rebound to the high single digits in most of southeast Saskatchewan. He expects all snow to be melted by Monday morning.

“Unfortunately, the Prairies are pretty notorious for getting snow, especially around the May long weekend,” McCauley said.

But the meteorologist said there’s good news on the horizon.

“Next weekend does look like it’s quite a bit warmer. I’m sure it’s around the low 20s or high teens. So it does look like summer is coming and temperatures are slowly climbing up.”

For up-to-date forecasts and temperatures throughout all of Saskatchewan, visit ECCC online.

Listen to this article Estimated 2 minutes The audio version of this article is generated by AI-based technology.…

[22
49,48,295,66
post-675791","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-environment","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-environment","tag-science
["GET
