An attractive bird species will continue to have solid nesting places in the North Okanagan thanks to the folks at Venture Training.

The North Okanagan Naturalists’ Club (NONC) recently took delivery of 50 nest boxes for its bluebird monitoring program. The nest boxes were made by Venture Training staff and clients according to specifications developed by the North American Bluebird Society.

The placement of these boxes helps to encourage this bird species to nest in the grasslands and hills surrounding the Greater Vernon area.

There are 18 bluebird nest box trails in the region, monitored by more than 40 volunteers from late March to early August each year.

It’s one of several programs offered by the Naturalists’ Club.

Every two to three years a supply of boxes has been made by the Venture Training crew under the direction of Garth, community support worker, and a dedicated team.

The reasonable cost and high quality of the boxes continue to exceed the club’s expectations.

“As we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of our club this year, we reflect on our advocacy and volunteer activities in support of natural history, and our association with local organizations like Venture Training,” said Eric Kowalski, NONC president.

The club endeavours to remain true to the motto of the Federation of BC Naturalists and BC Nature, which is: ‘Knowing nature and keeping it worth knowing.’

Venture Training builds 50 boxes to help bluebirds nest in the North Okanagan Published 5:00 pm Sunday, May…

[6
49,48,61
post-676599","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-technology","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-technology
["GET
