\n\tThe 2026 ACM Awards<\/a> kicked off Sunday (May 17) night in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena with a bang \u2013 albeit one you could have seen coming a country mile away.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe evening\u2019s first award, the prestigious song of the year Academy of Country Music Award, went to \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas,\u201d the nine-week Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 from Ella Langley<\/a> that\u2019s taken America by storm.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe song of the year ACM Award goes to songwriter(s), publisher(s) and artist(s), so Langley won alongside cowriters Luke Dick, Miranda Lambert and Joybeth Taylor, with Bada Bing & Bada Langley Publishing, Little Louder Songs and Sony Music Publishing winning for publishing.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIf you\u2019ve ever met me you know I am not at a loss for words often,\u201d Langley said while holding the trophy. \u201cAll I gotta say is, thank you God for putting me in a room with these three people here,\u201d she said, pointing to her cowriters on stage. Thanking her fans, she admitted, \u201cI don\u2019t know why you latched onto this song,\u201d but said she was grateful for the support.<\/p>\n

\n\tLangley revealed the songwriting quartet have a group messaging chat named \u201cChoosin\u2019\u201d where they \u201csent stats to\u201d each other about the smash. Based on the song\u2019s ongoing success, it doesn\u2019t seem like that chat will go silent any time soon. \u201cI never would have imagined to even dream for it,\u201d Langley said of its runaway success.<\/p>\n

\n\tBefore even another hour had passed, Langley and Lambert were back onstage, accepting the ACM Award for single of the year, also for \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas,\u201d alongside co-producer Ben West. \u201cThis is my 20th ACM this year,\u201d Lambert said. \u201cI\u2019m just so thankful to Ella for trusting me with her art.\u201d Saluting West as \u201can amazing producer,\u201d she added that all the musicians on the song were \u201csuch a blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n
