\n\tAfter more than 15 years of appearances on Billboard\u2019s Alternative Airplay<\/a> chart, Young the Giant<\/a> has its first No. 1, topping the May 23-dated tally with \u201cDifferent Kind of Love.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe song, the week\u2019s Greatest Gainer in plays, leaps three spots to the top.<\/p>\n

\n\tFormed in California in 2004, Young the Giant first reached Alternative Airplay in 2011 with its breakout single, \u201cMy Body,\u201d which peaked at No. 5 that April, becoming the group\u2019s first of six top 10s to date.<\/p>\n

\n\tPrior to \u201cDifferent Kind of Love,\u201d the band\u2019s top Alternative Airplay rank was No. 2, achieved with \u201cIt\u2019s About Time\u201d in 2014 and \u201cSuperposition\u201d in 2019. In between those songs, the act notched three entries, paced by the No. 16-peaking \u201cThe Walk Home\u201d in 2023.<\/p>\n

\n\tYoung the Giant is the fifth act to lead Alternative Airplay for the first time in 2026. That\u2019s on pace with the 10 acts that did so in all of 2025.<\/p>\n

\n\tConcurrently, \u201cDifferent Kind of Love\u201d ranks at No. 29 on Adult Alternative Airplay<\/a>, after reaching No. 24. On the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay<\/a> chart, the tune rises 24-22 with 2.1 million audience impressions in the week ending May 14, up 10%, according to Luminate.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDifferent Kind of Love\u201d is the lead single from Victory Garden, Young the Giant\u2019s sixth studio album, released May 1 on the band\u2019s own label, Jungle Youth Music, via a licensing deal with Fearless and distribution through Concord. The set has earned 11,000 equivalent album units.<\/p>\n
