Slipknot<\/a>\u00a0have announced a full physical release for their experimental \u2018lost\u2019 album \u2018Look Outside Your Window\u2019.<\/p>\n

After years of speculation, proposed\u00a0releases\u00a0and delays,\u00a0the album was finally released for Record Store Day in April this year<\/a>,\u00a0in a\u00a0very limited-edition run.<\/p>\n

Now,\u00a0they have announced that fans will finally be able to get their hands on it in a range of physical formats from June 12. There will be a blue transparent leaf-filled LP, limited to 250 copies, a clear purple LP limited to\u00a0500\u00a0and a bubblegum LP limited to 1000.<\/p>\n

The music on the album was recorded during the recording sessions for the band\u2019s fourth record \u2018All Hope Is Gone\u2019 in 2008, but was kept as a separate body of work from the band\u2019s studio output.<\/p>\n

They have been teasing its release since 2019<\/a>, but it was delayed multiple times \u2013 partially due to COVID-19 \u2013 and it has now been released, with the artist and album title both listed as Look Outside Your Window.<\/p>\n

In a statement for Record Store Day<\/a>, the band said:\u00a0\u201cWe knew we were heading down a different creative path, entirely apart from Slipknot, and we followed it eagerly. We called the project \u2018Look Outside Your Window\u2019 as a tribute to this experimental spirit.<\/p>\n

\u201cCreated during a chaotic time in our shared history, the\u00a0songs were born late at night, in a house on a farm in the middle of nowhere,\u201d they continued. \u201cPeering out through a big picture window, we wondered about what, or who, might be lurking outside. That sense of the unknown seeped into the music itself.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were no rules; ideas could come from anywhere: subtle drum loops, bits of organ or abstract guitar noise, even samples of frogs or crickets. Guided by emotion and instinct, we let the sounds themselves point the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

When fans started receiving the album ahead of Record Store Day last month,\u00a0they started comparing it to Radiohead and Pink Floyd<\/a>, with Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil making several appearances throughout it.<\/p>\n

In 2024,\u00a0Clown\u00a0spoke\u00a0to\u00a0NME\u00a0about the album<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m really pleased about it and happy to finally be rid of it! What\u2019s nice though is that it isn\u2019t a hype thing, it\u2019s just something we did while we were doing other Slipknot albums. It was a very honest action to make music that wasn\u2019t Slipknot, but utilised the skills of guys with no rules. I don\u2019t know if it\u2019s \u2018good\u2019, but I know that I love it. I make music for myself, but I hope that the people who waited and waited and waited think it was worth it too.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

He later told us that \u201cmanagement has [the album] and it\u2019s coming out\u201d, hinting<\/a>: \u201cWhat I can tell you is that I showed Corey the final artwork two days ago. It is happening, but unfortunately, because of Christmas and New Year and the way business works, I\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0slide it in this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

He began 2026, meanwhile, by warning fans:\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s not Slipknot at all, not even close.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Reviewing the album,\u00a0NME\u00a0awarded it four stars and noted<\/a>:\u00a0\u201cWe always knew \u2018Look Outside Your Window\u2019 was going to be experimental.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0Taylor\u2019s desolate voice, over the\u00a0knee-jerk\u00a0intersection of heaviness and atmosphere, that fills it with the Slipknot fear factor, something normally summoned through masks and unrelenting brutality. \u2018Look Outside Your Window\u2019\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0exist without The Nine, and its unanswered mystery can finally be resolved, confirmed in their story as a seriously impressive cult classic.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last autumn,\u00a0Slipknot drummer Eloy Casagrande revealed that the band were working on new music<\/a>. \u201cWe are cooking,\u201d he said at the time. \u201cSince I joined the band, we have been working on some\u00a0new ideas. We keep exchanging guitar\u00a0riffs,\u00a0drum beats, so we are always doing something.
