Yorkshire 486 (Lyth 141, Bairstow 120) beat Surrey 204 (Abbott 56, Hill 4-34) and 155 (Sibley 34, Abbott 33*, Brook 3-11, White 3-27) by an innings and 127 runs<\/p>\n
Yorkshire<\/a> completed a notable innings and 127-run Rothesay County Championship victory over Surrey<\/a> as they claimed their last five wickets just before lunch on day four.<\/p>\n Surrey started the day on 83 for 5 in their second innings, trailing by 199, and they quickly lost overnight duo Dom Sibley for 34 and left-handed Josh Blake for 19.<\/p>\n From there, the writing was on the wall as Surrey, bowled out for 155, slipped to their first defeat in six Division One matches this season.<\/p>\n Yorkshire claimed 23 points for their second win in six, with Surrey taking only two points.<\/p>\n This was also Surrey’s first innings defeat in the Championship since late May 2024, when they were beaten by Hampshire at the Utilita Bowl.<\/p>\n Sibley was dropped at leg slip in the day’s first full over off Jack White<\/a> before he edged departing Australian Test quick Jhye Richardson to second slip in the next, where Harry Brook<\/a> took a sharp catch going to his left.<\/p>\n White then trapped Blake lbw pushing forwards, leaving Surrey at 90 for 7 in the 32nd over, the day’s third full over.<\/p>\n Shortly afterwards, he bowled Jordan Clark with one that shot through low. In fairness to Clark, he could do little about it. White finished with 3 for 27 from 11 overs.<\/p>\n Sean Abbott<\/a> and Matthew Fisher added a consolatory 25 for the ninth wicket, and the latter was struck a nasty blow to the helmet by a Matthew Revis bouncer. Two balls later, he edged the same bowler to first slip.<\/p>\n Abbott, 33 not out, and last man Dan Worrall added 35 more before the latter had his off-stump uprooted by George Hill, who struck for the first time in the innings and the fifth time in the match.<\/p>\n This was the last game of Richardson’s early-season overseas spell with Yorkshire.
