Two weeks after getting eliminated from the NBA Playoffs, the Boston Celtics<\/a>‘ offseason is underway.<\/p>\n

One of their main targets this summer<\/a> is expected to be two-time NBA MVP\u00a0Giannis Antetokounmpo, who will likely be available via trade with the Milwaukee Bucks.<\/p>\n

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Celtics already pursued him at the trade deadline and will likely do so again this offseason.<\/p>\n

During his appearance on Monday’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show,” Charania named Boston<\/a> as one of many teams that “had interest in Giannis at the deadline” along with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the New York Knicks, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Miami Heat and others.<\/p>\n

“The Celtics did check in. They did make a call. They did have a level of interest, and I think that is gonna continue into this offseason, but they never got into the particulars,” Charania said.<\/p>\n

Boston now has plenty of time to start fleshing out a potential trade for\u00a0Antetokounmpo, although it would likely need to give up either Jaylen Brown or Jayson Tatum<\/a> to get him.<\/p>\n

That would be a massive shakeup to the Celtics’ identity, so time will tell how seriously Brad Stevens pursues a trade for Giannis<\/a> over the next few months.<\/p>\n
