rolled out following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., amid continued inflationary pressures, rising energy costs, and the broader economic impact of tensions in the Middle East.

SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Joseph de Claro said the agency aimed to provide immediate and accessible financial relief to Filipino workers, pensioners, and businesses.

“We recognize that rising prices and economic uncertainty continue to place pressure on Filipino families and businesses,” de Claro said.

READ: <a differences

“Through these enhanced programs, SSS is ensuring that our members and pensioners have access to timely, affordable, and reliable financial support when they need it most,” he added.

Among the key measures is the early implementation of the scheduled 2026 pension increase under the SSS Pension Reform Program.

Originally set for September, the increase will now take effect in June 2026.

Under the adjustment, retirement and disability pensions will increase by 10 percent, while death and survivor benefits will rise by 5 percent.

SSS said it expected to release around P6.5 billion from June to August this year for the advance implementation, benefiting millions of pensioners and their families.

READ: shocks

The pension adjustment comes as many Filipino households continue to struggle with higher food, transport, fuel, and electricity costs.

Apart from pension increases, SSS also announced expanded loan assistance programs aimed at providing faster and more affordable access to cash.

Under the enhanced Emergency Loan Program, qualified members may borrow up to P20,000 at a reduced interest rate of 7 percent per annum, coupled with a six-month repayment moratorium.

READ: <a shocks

SSS also eased eligibility requirements by lowering the required posted contributions from 36 months to 18 months, provided members have at least six contributions within the past 12 months.

The program now also covers members with minimal past-due loans of up to three monthly amortizations and includes overseas Filipino workers through simplified eligibility rules.

The agency allocated around P27 billion for the emergency loan program, which is expected to benefit about 2.24 million members.

SSS said the program was intended to provide a safer and more affordable alternative to informal lenders while helping borrowers address urgent expenses such as medical bills, education, and daily household needs.

Meanwhile, SSS is also preparing to launch a Micro-Loan Program that will offer short-term loans ranging from P1,000 to P20,000.

The loans will carry an interest rate of 8 percent annually and repayment terms ranging from 15 to 90 days.

According to SSS, the micro-loans will be accessible through digital platforms and partner financial institutions to allow quicker and more convenient fund disbursement.

The agency is targeting a loan portfolio of up to P40 billion within the next two years under the program.

SSS also continued its loan penalty condonation initiative for members with unpaid short-term loans.

Through the Consolidation of Past Due Short-Term Member Loans with Condonation of Penalty Program, penalties may be fully waived once members settle the principal and interest of their loans.

Borrowers may either pay in full or choose installment terms of up to 60 months with a minimum down payment of 10 percent.

Applications may be filed online through the My.SSS portal.

For employers, SSS said it was extending contribution delinquency relief measures through penalty condonation and restructuring programs.

These include the Contribution Penalty Condonation, Delinquency Management, and Restructuring Program for businesses and a separate condonation and restructuring program for household employers.

The agency said the measures would allow employers to settle unpaid contribution obligations through structured payment arrangements without incurring additional penalties, while ensuring continued social security coverage for workers.

SSS said the expanded assistance programs are part of its commitment to address the immediate needs of members while maintaining the long-term sustainability of the state pension fund.

Your subscription could not
