Benn operates under Dana White&#8217;s Zuffa Boxing banner while Garcia remains with Golden Boy Promotions and <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnews.com\/fighter\/oscar-de-la-hoya\/\" class=\"internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash\/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oscar De La Hoya<\/a> \u2014 two promotional structures with a well-documented history of friction. <\/p>\n<p>Garcia won the belt with a unanimous decision win over Mario Barrios in February. Benn earned his mandatory position with a unanimous decision over Regis Prograis in April. <\/p>\n<p>The announcement came on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, while Canelo Alvarez vs. Christian Mbilli in Riyadh \u2014 Mexican Independence weekend \u2014 takes place on the same day. <\/p>\n<p>Garcia Reacts<\/p>\n<p>The September 12 date places the fight in direct competition with one of the year&#8217;s other marquee bouts.
