A sell-out crowd of around 1,000 boxing fans is expected when Eric Basran comes home for a night of pro fights in Surrey.

Hamilton-based Three Lions Promotions (3LP) booked Newton’s Royal King Palace & Convention Centre for a “Homecoming” boxing event Saturday, May 30.

Surrey-raised Basran will meet Chilean challenger Sebastian “Cerberus” Caucaman in the main event, a 10-round fight for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) International Silver Lightweight title.

The convention centre isn’t far from where Basran lives and went to school, at Frank Hurt Secondary.

“I don’t think I’ve ever actually fought in Surrey, to be honest,” Basran, 27, told the Now-Leader. “This will be special, for sure, especially fighting for a belt back home, it’s going to be crazy night. I know that a lot of tickets have been sold and it will be a good turnout.”

Surrey is also home to other boxers on the card including Buneet Bisla and Harkerat “Keeko” Nijjar, promising a mix of rising Canadian talent and fan‑favourite contenders. Ticket prices range from $60 (general admission) to $1,750 (gold table) on threelionspromotions.com.

“With Eric Basran returning after competing internationally, along with a strong supporting lineup, fans can expect a high-quality night of action,” said Daniel Otter, Three Lions Promotions managing director.

Last spring, Basran, 27, fought in the World Boxing Council Grand Prix in Saudi Arabia, where he suffered his first loss as a pro in the second round of the tournament.

“It was a phenomenal experience there, such a cool experience,” Basran recalled. “Losing is never fun, obviously, but you just go back to the drawing board.”

There was an “incident in the fight, he continued.

“The ref didn’t see that I had been head-butt, and he thought it was a punch, and that actually cut me over my eye. So that was kind of unfortunate and played a big role in the fight. But it is what it is. You kind of roll with the punches and keep going.”

Saturday’s fight in Newton will be Basran’s first in close to a year, and he’s training hard at Quinit Boxing gyms to prepare for Caucaman.

“I’ve watched a little bit of his footage,” Basran reported. “He’s crafty, ranked number-one in his country, so he has the national belt there. WBC obviously approved him so he’s pretty good. It’s going to be a tough fight.”

While Basran will be fighting in his first scheduled 10-round bout, Caucaman defeated Felipe Pizarro last October for the Chilean lightweight crown.

Other matches at Royal King Palace will feature JM Bianco (vs. Nijjar), Ukrainian prospect Vadym Klym Meilyn Martinez and Nyousha “Superfly” Nakhjiri.

“This card reflects the strength and depth of Canadian boxing right now,” Otter underlined. “We’re bringing together fighters at different stages of their careers who are looking to take meaningful steps forward.”

Surrey ‘homecoming’ for boxer at 1,000-seat hall in Newton Published 12:37 pm Tuesday, May 19, 2026 A sell-out…

[194299
49,48,163792,87674
post-680389","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-surrey","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-lower-mainland","tag-surrey
["GET
