With fewer than eight minutes left in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals Tuesday night, Cleveland led the New York Knicks<\/a> by the score of 93-71. Victory is supposed to be assured in that case, especially when you are the underdog in hostile territory.<\/p>\n

And yet \u2026 here we are. A furious comeback in the fourth quarter led to an emphatic beatdown in overtime, with the Knicks notching a 115-104 win to take a 1-0 lead<\/a>. Game 2 is scheduled for Thursday (8 p.m. ET, ESPN).<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no telling how the Cavaliers come back from this. Donovan Mitchell<\/a> looked hobbled. James Harden<\/a> looked like a caricature of playoff James Harden. Jalen Brunson<\/a> scored at will. A lot happened in Game 1, so let\u2019s go through the numbers.<\/p>\n

Here are the wildest numbers out there from one of the loudest nights in Madison Square Garden history.<\/p>\n

Remember when the Cavaliers took that 22-point lead? The Knicks proceeded to outscore them 44-11 for the rest of the game.<\/p>\n

The Knicks\u2019 22-point comeback is their largest comeback playoff win in franchise history. It\u2019s also the fourth time they\u2019ve come back from down 20-plus in the past two postseasons<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s without getting into what was happening on defense.<\/p>\n
