Police are investigating a Wednesday morning shooting in Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood that they believe is related to extortion.<\/p>\n

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at a home near 57 Avenue and 148 Street at about 4:40 a.m. PT, according to a news release from the Surrey Police Service (SPS).<\/p>\n

While the home was occupied at the time, police say no one was injured.<\/p>\n

“Upon arrival, police noted damage to a residence and evidence of shots fired,” SPS said.<\/p>\n

It said the extortion response team is leading the investigation and forensic services will be in the area processing physical and digital evidence.<\/p>\n
