The Montreal Victoire\u2019s Laura Stacey is being lauded for her latest interview in the French language.<\/p>\n
The team\u2019s alternate captain spoke to RDS\u2019s Catherine Savoie (at the 11-minute mark of this video<\/a>) as the players were getting ready for Game 3 against the Ottawa Charge at the Canadian Tire Centre on Monday.<\/p>\n The star forward, who is originally from Kleinburg in southern Ontario, described how it was important for the team to \u201cfocus on ourselves\u201d and to \u201cplay our game.\u201d<\/p>\n Stacey switches briefly to English at one point, saying \u201cOf course they are against us. Mais encore une fois, c\u2019est tr\u00e8s important pour nous de focus sur nous-m\u00eames et profitez-en.\u201d<\/p>\n The interview during the Walter Cup final prompted an outpouring of support from fans, many of whom were touched Stacey made the effort to speak in French.<\/p>\n \u201cAs a Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois, I have nothing but respect for her,\u201d one user replied on X. \u201cShe\u2019s making a huge effort and I, for one, appreciate it!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHow can you not love her for that effort,\u201d another wrote.<\/p>\n Others appeared to relate to Stacey directly, with one man noting<\/a> he grew up in Montreal and that \u201cshe speaks better Franglais than me.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m obsessed with her French. It reminds me of Toronto high school franglais. I mean this so lovingly,\u201d another user replied.<\/p>\n Stacey also happens to be married to Victoire captain and teammate Marie-Philip Poulin. Last month<\/a>, she told The Gazette that she was \u201creally, really happy\u201d to play and enjoy her experience in Montreal over the last few years.<\/p>\n The three-time Olympic medallist also spoke highly of the support from the fans, saying Montreal is her \u201chome now.\u201d<\/p>\n Stacey\u2019s education on the French language has been progressing with Poulin\u2019s help, including some videos posted by Radio-Canada this season in which she learns Quebec expressions and plays Guess Who with Poulin in French.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \t\tEditor\u2019s Picks\t<\/p>\n
