That is why I have decided to retire. I have no regrets. The real challenge begins from here on out,\u201d added Yudai Shigeoka, who has a 9-2 record.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Japanese boxing is under the spotlight after super featherweight Shigetoshi Kotari and lightweight Hiromasa Urakawa, both 28, died days after injuries they sustained in separate bouts in Tokyo on Aug 2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Japanese boxing officials held an emergency meeting this week and vowed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/sport\/japan-boxing-to-adopt-stricter-safety-rules-after-deaths-of-two-fighters?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular inline\" data-testid=\"paragraph-test-id\">introduce new safety rules<\/p>\n<p><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">New measures to be implemented as soon as possible include urine tests for measuring dehydration and stricter rules on boxers\u2019 rapid weight loss, said Mr Tsuyoshi Yasukochi, secretary-general of the JBC.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Ambulances will also be required on site, even for non-world championship bouts, something which is common practice in some other countries.
