Two more candidates have registered to run for mayor in Winnipeg.<\/p>\n

Don Woodstock, who is the founder of a business called JamRock Security, registered Thursday for his third consecutive mayoral campaign.<\/p>\n

He finished fourth out of eight candidates in the 2018 mayoral race, winning two per cent of the popular vote. He then finished ninth out of 11 candidates in 2022 and garnered one per cent of the vote.<\/p>\n

Mazher Alam, a newcomer to Winnipeg politics, also registered Thursday. He said in a press release he will campaign on promises to fix potholes, halt property-tax increases and reverse water rate hikes.<\/p>\n

While mayoral candidates may register now, candidates for councillor and school trustee must wait until June 30 to register their campaigns.<\/p>\n

The nomination period for mayor, council and school trustee candidates is Sept. 16-22. Candidates must submit valid nomination papers in order to be on the Oct. 28 ballot.<\/p>\n
